As Hardy Street locals, we’ve watched our humble little street grow and evolve into the bustling food and retail destination it is today. With an abundance of excellent retail outlets, superb dining and delicious coffee we’re certainly spoilt for choice. We’re proud to be a part of a food and retail hub here in Nelson that is only getting bigger and better! While the list could go on and on, we’ve put together a select few of some of our favourite spots.
Urban Oyster Bar and Eatery – 278 Hardy Street
One of the newer kids on the block, the Urban Oyster Bar and Eatery may be young but they know how to create an innovative dining experience. Their menu inspiration comes from anywhere and everywhere whether it be an ingredient, band, current event or even a chef. With a regularly changing menu, Urban Eatery encourages you to come with a curious spirit, ready to try food that they’re currently passionate about.
Sprig and Fern- 280 Hardy Street, Nelson
With real craft beer and ciders produced right here in Nelson, the Sprig and Fern is the perfect spot to sample their award winning beverages, local wines and good old home cooked tavern meals in the heart of Nelson City Don’t miss their live music every weekend as well as quiz on Wednesday and free nibbles on Sundays.
Morri Street Cafe – 244 Hardy Street, Nelson
This incredibly popular cafe is an icon on Hardy Street. Open from 7.30am, Morri Street Cafe is the perfect place for that early morning brekky or to park up after shopping at Morrison Square. With plenty of seating both inside and out you can enjoy the hustle and bustle of Hardy Street while sipping a coffee made from Atomic beans perfectly blended with locally produced Oakland Milk
Arden Bar and Eatery – 216 Hardy Street, Nelson
Located behind a heritage shop front, Arden Bar and Eatery have been showcasing brewers and producers from near and far since early 2018. Small but casual spaces make for intimate dining and a courtyard out the back is ideal during longer summer evenings. Owner Lisa Penketh, makes all the plates and mugs used to serve their delicious offerings, proving that the chef can play a complete role from design to plating.
Morrison Square – 244 Hardy Street, Nelson.
Needing that shopping fix? You can’t go past Morrison Square. With over 15 retail outlets in one spot, there is plenty for everyone. And when you’ve worked up an appetite from all that retail therapy there are 7 eateries and cafes to take your pick from where you can refuel and relax.
